About

Born 1995 in Anhui, China, Zhou is a Paris-based multidisciplinary artist exploring emergence– how complex phenomena arise from simple underlying structures. Trained in traditional Chinese ink painting and calligraphy, she later completed studies in applied mathematics and biology at Brown University, followed by a PhD in Neuroscience conducted at the Institut Pasteur and the Institut des Neurosciences Paris-Saclay. Her research visualized the continuous topology of real-time neural signals, revealing the hidden geometries from which brain activity and consciousness take shape.

Zhou sees geometry, whether abstract or anatomical, as the architecture of the mind: from this basic scaffolding, perception, intuition and other high-level cognitive abilities are born. These abstract structures can be perceived by others when translated through the grammar of physics and the symbols of mathematics. Combining traditional media like painting and calligraphy with scientific methods such as algorithmic simulation, physical modeling, and real-world data collection and analyses, she builds works in which form unfolds from rules, and meaning from form. She uses these research frameworks to explores inner states, metacognition, collective intelligence, and creation.
